n this 80th Independence Day, I join in honouring the memory of the brave freedom fighters who gave away their
lives and dedicated themselves to the cause of India’s freedom. Their sacrifice, sustained over generations and across
Oevery region and community, made possible the freedom we cherish today. What they achieved has endured because
it was founded not on the ambition of a few, but on the conviction of many — that a country with such great diversity could
hold together and stand united. Seventy-nine years of independence stand as testimony to the wisdom of that conviction.
India’s journey since independence is one of perseverance, achievement and national pride. My sincere greetings to all on
            this solemn and joyful occasion.
